Motherhood Journey
Here's what I have been up to: Working on a project aiming to improve the health outcomes and well-being of Latina community by addressing communication barriers in healthcare settings and incorporating innovative, culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions in a community space. The study centered on using indigenous modern arts to explore and represent the “Motherhood journey” experiences of women transitioning to motherhood, focusing on topics like body image, postpartum depression, pregnancy expectations, breastfeeding, and mental health anxiety.
Data generation analysis involved active engagement in artistic practices by both the participants and the researcher through the research process:

This artwork reflects the transformative journey of motherhood and the weight of societal expectations placed on mothers. It speaks to the pressure to embody perfection, as defined by social norms, while navigating the complexities of this role. Despite the challenges, mothers continue to carry their children—nurturing and protecting—even when their strength feels fragile. Like feathers that may fall but always grow back, this piece symbolizes resilience, growth, and the unwavering love that endures through it all.
